Starting off 2007

The mad angel and I ushred in the new year by both coming down with a nasty case of the flu and sinus infections. The mad angel, being the overachiver she is, decided to take on bronchitis as well. Even so we had a very nice Christmas and New Years vacation together before the onset of the plague.

For Christmas the mad angel bought me a most excellent digital camera. The 10.3 Megapixel Sony Cyber-shot DSC-R1 shown below.

Plenty of features, buttons, and techy gee gaws to appeal to my Gadget Fetish as well as just a damn fine professional quality camera that's easier to use than an SLR. Details can be found here for the curious. Needless to say I've been taking pictures of everything since Christmas. :)

My gift to her this year was a brand new computer. With due care she researched what she wanted online in game forums. The system was built around the graphics card (EVGA GeForce 7950 GT KO, 512RAM) and included the ABIT Fatality MoBo, AMD Athalon 64 4600 CPU, 2 Gig of RAM, a 600Watt modular power supply, and the CoolMaster Tower case. The assembly itself was pretty easy, though a bad CPU resulted in a trip back to FRY's to have them do a diagnostic on all the components for a few days. But with a new CPU the system came to life.

She cristened her new rig "Devil-Doll" (after the retro punk/torch singer of the same name.) and it absolutely screams in SL. It is amazing how much lag in SL can be directly tied to the horsepower of your graphics card.

Of course now...I've got to upgrade MY aging system so as not be left behind by my mad "geek gurl" angel.

More to come....

The camera and the computer look outstanding. I got a new notebook for my other half.

I could definitely use a better video card. SL is very laggy with the current one.
