Though often incorrectly attributed to Lincoln (actual author was William J. H. Boetcker) in the wild Fact-challenged environs populated by Internet Chain Letters, it doesn't lessen the truth of these 10 statements...especially these days:
1. You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
2. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong
3. You cannot help the poor man by destroying the rich.
4. You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.
5. You cannot build character and courage by taking away man's initiative and independence.
6. You cannot help small men by tearing down big men.
7. You cannot lift the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer.
8. You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than your income.
9. You cannot establish security on borrowed money.
10 You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they will not do for themselves.

It's all DoublePlusGood brothers
Well...I guess people better watch what they say about Obama's policies, your neighbors will report you to the Ministry of Truth.
From the White House blog [Link HERE]:
"There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov."
So one has to wonder...just what will the White House do about people who have their emails or website turned in to the government because they say something that seems "fishy"?

Bend over here it comes....
Inauguration Day is only 3 full days away. In a attempt to be more in touch with my inner compassionate nature I suggest that on Inauguration Day we all spare a moment to think of those who are left less fortunate in the wake of this last election. Those of us with critical minds who spent the last election cycle reviewing the candidates, weighing the facts, pulling on relevant lessons and indicators from history, engaging in deep thought and contemplation of the issues and participating in intellectually challenging discussions that force us to continuously review and sharpen our views, opinions and decisions.... Though the election results may not have come out the way we would have wished we know where we stand, we know who we are, what we believe in and why. And with this knowledge, on the day after inauguration day we, can continue onwards with our lives to try and do more in our own individual small way to improve things where we can until the next election.
But let us not forget those less fortunate wretched souls who are not so lucky... [roll tape]
