Jr. Einstein in 17 Years! Ritalin, Adderall, and Therapy not Included

Now I grew up in the 70's and 80's so I certainly had my fair share of TV watching. But it also means I did alot of the other stuff kids used to do with most of their time; going outside, playing games (the sort that required interaction with other human beings), reading, etc. So with that context I was reading an article in Time magazine about those cursed Baby Einstein and other such Program-your-spawn-to-be-a-brainiac-or-at-least-smarter-than-the-Jones'-kid-down-the-street tapes.

The article can be found HERE but this is the "Money Quote":
"As far as Christakis and his colleagues can determine, the only thing that baby videos are doing is producing a generation of over stimulated kids. "There is an assumption that stimulation is good, so more is better," he says. "But that's not true; there is such a thing as over stimulation." His group has found that the more television children watch, the shorter their attention spans later in life. "Their minds come to expect a high level of stimulation, and view that as normal," says Christakis, "and by comparison, reality is boring."

Now with that in mind I will leave you three words for you to chew on: Attention Deficit Disorder. Or how about these four: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

Are the dots starting to connect? Hmmmm?
