RIAA sues Sgt. Nicholas Paternoster for infringing copyrights on six songs by using the peer-to-peer file-sharing program Kazaa to distribute the songs online.
RIAA submits into evidence screenshots of more than 4,600 files from Paternoster’s personal computer, including hundreds of apparently pornographic pictures and movies unrelated to the case.
Sgt. Paternoster decides to fight back and files a counterclaim accusing the RIAA of violating his privacy and seeking to "shame Counter-Plaintiff... into giving in to their unreasonable demands regarding their copyrighted materials."
