Folks, you just can't make up silliness like this.  Straight from the People's Republic of Berkeley.  As part of an assignment in a computer programming class the students are to write a program that plays checkers.  However...not exactly the checkers game that you or I probably remember.  A kinder', more sensitive and inclusive game of checkers devoid of oppressive misogynistic imagery.
Quoting the Assignment [link to full document here]:
"If a piece reaches the opposite side, it becomes an AAP (Additionally Abled Piece — actually, it’s called a “king”, but we decided to eschew sexist and monarchist nomenclature) and can move both backwards and forwards along the diagonals."
