My wishing and worries are apparently at an end. Peter Jackson, Newline Cinema and MGM have managed to come to agreement that has allowed Peter Jackson to declare that he will be producing The Hobbit. Story Here
The plan is for the story to be told in two films coming out in 2010 & 2011. A choice I'm glad to hear about since it means they won't be trying to shoehorn the story into a single film. There's alot of stuff in the Hobbit and I want to see as much of it as possible make it to the screen. I'm wondering if I should give warning to the mad angel about some of the scenes in Mirkwood or let her see it herself. *evil grin*
It also means Jackson's SFX group WETA will be doing the movies, so the places and the costumes and the props and the creatures should have the same quality we came to expect from LotR.
It will be good to see old friends again. Gandalf, Elrond, Bilbo...and a dwarf named Glóin that looks strikingly like his son from the later films. Here's hoping they all stay healthy.
